It's time for another matching game! For this one, we're all playing as a way to review the sleep-wake disorders section of the DSM.
To prepare for the exam with exam-style questions, try practice tests like the ones from SWTP. Full-length practice beats out game show style quizzes any day. But these quizzes go faster and may be a little bit more fun. Let's begin!
Here are the definitions (which are partial to provide extra challenge):
1. Repeated occurrences of extended, extremely dysphoric, and well-remembered dreams.
2. Polysomnograpy demonstrates episodes of decreased respiration.
3. A complaint of dissatisfaction with sleep quantity or quality.
4. Snoring, snorting, gasping, or breathing pauses during sleep.
5. Recurrent periods of an irrepressible need to sleep.
6. Excessive sleepiness despite a main sleep period lasting at least 7 hours.
Here are this disorders:
A. Insomnia Disorder
B. Hypersomnolence Disorder
C. Narcolepsy
D. Sleep Apnea
E. Sleep-Related Hypoventilation
F. Nightmare Disorder

Note: There are more sleep-wake disorders in the chapter. Sleep apnea is divided into two disorders--obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea and central sleep apnea. We didn't include circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders, non-rapid eye movement sleep arousal disorders, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder, or restless legs syndrome. Too many for the quiz. Just the right amount for exam writers to dip in and pull out something semi-obscure to test you out with. But you'll be ready now.
